Fall in Love with Hinatuan Enchanted River, Surigao Del Sur

A lot of us would always love to feel the thrill of visiting places which would definitely captivate our heart and soul and would leave a footprint in our hearts and minds. More often than not, it is our way of unwinding and getting rid of stress in work or in school. Whatever reasons we may have, one goal will meet us to the common point, to enjoy and appreciate nature as it is. Some places are well-developed and were turned into magnificent places. And a lot of us are curious about some historical background of the places we already visited or we love to visit soon.

During the 1950s, Hinatuan Enchanted River situated at Surigao Del Sur was once a common pond with logs at the middle of the operations of logging at the same area, and now, it is already one of the leading tourist spots in the said province. It has a cool crystal like clear water, a lot of tourists got tempted and lured with this Enchanted river even way back two years ago when it was not yet fully unfolded.

If you originate from the town proper, it has a 14 kilometers travel that will lead you to the spring resort nested at Barangay Cambatong. The common transportation is by riding single motorcycles or locally termed as habal-habal that would carry you to the resort which will costs 40php. One of the resort staff stated that the log pond before was now a fully developed swimming area and a few logs are still submerged at the bottom part of the pool which is 26 meters deep. 15 years ago, it is described by the natives that this swimming area was once a natural spring wherein natives would just go there and swim. Hinatuan Enchanted River in Surigao Del Sur has already paved its own way to the top tourist destination in the Philippines.

Before it was fully developed, you would never really notice a natural spring situated in this place since it was covered by the giant balete trees and a thick forest which would be impossible for the people when passing by to notice this wonderful place. Why it was called Enchanted River? A native also answered that maybe it was termed like that due to some supernatural creatures or entities’ residing on the place before it was fully developed. But nowadays, reports of supernatural occurrences were already disappeared. The Hinatuan Enchanted River was already unfolded to the public with upgraded features; it has now installed with huts and beach umbrellas just a few steps away from the river itself. Motorized bancas was already made for the convenience of the tourists with just 150php an hour and when the banca reached the docking area, it has a wooden footbridge.

This wonderfully made place was just a dream come true to almost everyone who had already visited the place. With its modernized children’s pool and the natural pool, tourists can now enjoy it. And for those individuals, who don’t know how to swim, they require them to wear lifejackets for their safety and lifeguards are always there to secure the users of the pools. Hinatuan Enchanted River has also food stalls just situated across the road and they served freshly cooked sea foods for your gastronomic delight. Pork and beef are not usually being served due to the reason of the vendors that the tourists must enjoy the seafoods and they can already got beef and pork available at their hometowns.
